Maintenance Program

In 1996, the United States Surgeon General along with the CDC and American College of Sports Medicine recommended that all Americans engage in at least 20 to 30 minutes of physical activity for a minimum of three days per week.  We here at Resource Development Specialists (RDS) agree that physical activity is important for health maintenance and improvement.  It is for this reason that we have listed some physical activities which are calorie burning and a good guide to wellness.

  • Brisk daily walks for 20 to 40 minutes at a pace where you can talk to a friend but it is still slight effort.  Include variations, do hills, stairs, etc.
  • Join an aerobics program for three or four times per week.  Stretch and tone, step and jazzaerobics are all good examples.
  • Weight training - employ a certified trainer to do three full body workouts per week.
